I have always been fascinated by the creative arts as a therapeutic tool to gain insight and promote wellness in individuals. To this end I completed an Advanced Diploma in Art Therapy (2010), Master of Counselling (Art Therapy- 2011), and designation as a Registered Canadian Art Therapist (2013).
Born in Kenya, and raised in three other countries prior to settling in Canada, my travels and rich and diverse life experience have contributed significantly to my desire to understand and empathize with my clients.
I have done active therapeutic work with children, adolescents and adults in the Medicine Hat community for the last seven years. Therapy has involved working with individuals and groups. I strive to facilitate healing and understanding in my clients.
My philosophy continues to evolve, and draws heavily from the field of Positive Psychology (Seligman, 2002). In therapy I utilize several approaches to promote personal awareness and skills including mindfulness based practices that promote attention, interpersonal awareness, emotional and cognitive understanding.
